What advantages does timber construction offer for the floor plan?
Timber construction methods allow large spans with few load-bearing interior walls – so the floor plan stays open and can be converted later with reasonable effort. In addition, the wall structures are slimmer than in solid construction for the same insulation effect, which gives 3 to 5 percent more living space for the same outer footprint. Price-wise, the range in 2026 runs from timber-frame construction from EUR 2,100 per m² to the solid log house from EUR 2,800 per m².
